CLASS AAA- REGION 5 RESULTS 5/11/2013

At the Class AAA, Region 5 meet at Dixie Heights High School on Saturday, athletes from both the girls’ and boys’ teams competed for regional titles and for the chance to compete at the State Meet next Saturday at the University of Louisville Cardinal Stadium. Both teams saw some great times on Saturday as many athletes got season best times/ throws, and jumps. The girls’ team took 3rd in the meet (only 2.7 points from second), a solid feat considering the number of nagging injuries and illnesses we have fought over the past few weeks. The boys’ team placed 5th only 1 point from 2nd). These two teams showed a lot of heart in working together and pulling together to do whatever was needed over the course of the past few weeks and days.

Highlights of the day and official state qualifiers:

GIRLS:

Girls 4×800 (Jennah Flairty, Abby Vandergriff, Makenzie Cave, Alex Gregory) Ran Season PR and placed 4th Qualified
100 M Hurdles: Brooke Buckler was 2nd and Becca Cline 4th Both Qualified
100 M Dash: Molly Kitchen 3rd. Qualified
4×200 M Relay: Brooke Buckler, Becca Cline, Angela Lauer, Molly Kitchen placed 3rd. Qualified
1600 Meter run: Jennah Flairty was 2nd Qualified
4×100 Meter relay (Rachel Combs, Meredith Donoghue, Kaitlyn Donoghue, Emily Orth) placed 8th
300 Meter Hurdles: Brooke Buckler and Becca Cline threw a 1-2 punch and swept the field. Qualified
800 Meter run: Jennah Flairty placed 3rd Qualified
200 Meter Dash: Molly Kitchen was 5th
3200 Meter run: Kenzie Cave was 7th
4×400 M relay: (Molly Kitchen, Alex Gregory, Brooke Buckler, Becca Cline) ran a season PR and placed 3rd. Qualified
Shot Put: Kaylee Johnson placed 7th
Discus: Taylor Schuchter and Olivia Cassinelli were 6th and 7th
Pole Vault: Angela Lauer was 2nd, and Kristen Spahr was 3rd Both Qualified

BOYS:

4×800 (Aaron Orth, Kevin Lackey, Mark Chaplin, Dylan Valdez) placed 5th
110 Meter Hurdles: Cody Canaday 7th, Mohammed Bayyari 8th
100 Meter Dash: Jake Zabonick 2nd (Qualified), Roosevelt Obison 7th
4×200 Meter Relay: (Cody Canaday, Tim Weimer, Devon Strange, Jake Zabonick) placed 4th
4×100 Meter Relay: (Roosevelt Obison, Grant Mahoney, Devon Strange, Jake Zabonick,) dashed away with the regional Championship Qualified
400 Meter Dash: Grant Mahoney not only placed 1st, but broke the Dixie track record Qualified, while Devon Strange placed 5th.
300 Meter hurdles: Mohammed Bayyari placed 4th (Qualified)and David Behymer Placed 8th
200 Meter Dash: Grant Mahoney placed 2nd (Qualified) and Jake Zabonick placed 4th
3200 Meter run: Mark Chaplin placed 4th and Dylan Valdez was 8th.
4×400 meter relay: Devon Strange, Tim Weimer, Mohammed Bayyari, Grant Mahoney) placed 4th Qualified
Shot: Logan Schneider placed 5^th and set a PR of 41-07
Long Jump: Andrew Hyden was 7th
Pole Vault: Will Seiter placed 2nd Qualified, Ben See was 4th
