Donnie Carnes Invitational 4/13/13

Both the boys and girls track teams competed in the 18th Annual Donnie Carnes Memorial Meet at Campbell County Middle School on Saturday. Before the start of the meet, the seniors on both the boys and girls teams were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to the team.  The seniors on the girls’ side were Molly Kitchen, Angela Lauer, and Kristen Spahr. On the boys’ side, the seniors that were recognized were Mohammed Bayyari, David Behymer, Cody Canaday, Brayden Hannah, Grant Mahoney, Roosevelt Obison, Kenny Schuchter, Will Seiter, Dylan Valdez, Chad Wagner, and Tim Weimer.  On Senior Day, there was great weather and some great performances with the Lady Camels taking home a third place finish and the Camels taking home a first place finish.  The top performances on the girls’ side were:

  • Becca Cline finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.39
  • Jennah Flairty finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:32.64 and Abby Vandergriff finished fifth with a time of 2:37.12
  • Jennah Flairty finished first in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:15.10
  • Brook Buckler and Becca Cline finished first and second in the 100 meter hurdles with times of 16.84 and 17.03
  • Becca Cline and Brooke Buckler finished first and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 47.81 and 53.77
  • The 4×100 meter relay team of Kaitlyn Donoghue, Emily Orth, Meredith Donoghue,  and Molly Kitchen finished fourth with a time of 55.51
  • The 4×200 meter relay team of Angie Lauer, Brooke Buckler, Kaitlyn Donoghue, and Molly Kitchen finished third with a time of 1:52.83
  • The 4×400 meter relay team of Jennah Flairty, Becca Cline, Angie Lauer, and Molly Kitchen finished second with a time of 4:22.97
  • The 4×800 meter relay team of Mackenzie Cave, Alex Gregory, Jennah Flairty, and Abby Vandergriff finished fourth with a time of 10:39.26
  • Emily Steele tied for fourth in the girls high jump with a height of 4-04.00
  • Angela Lauer finished first, Abby Vandergriff tied for third, and Kristen Spahr finished sixth in the pole vault with heights of 8-06.00 and 7-00.00’s
  • Meredith Donoghue finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 28-07.50
  • Gabby Elsbernd finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 25-00.50
  • Olivia Cassinelli finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 75-10

The top performances on the boys’ side were:

  • Jake Zabonick finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.71
  • Grant Mahoney and Jake Zabonick finished second and third in the 200 meter dash with times of 23.84 and 24.14
  • Grant Mahoney finished first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.79
  • Mark Chaplin finished sixth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:48.13
  • Cody Canaday and Mohammed Bayyari finished fourth and sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with times of 17.22 and 17.79
  • Mohammed Bayyari and David Behymer finished fourth and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles with times of 43.88 and 45.61
  • The 4×100 meter relay of Cody Canaday, Grant Mahoney, Devon Strange, and Jake Zabonick finished first with a time of 45.91
  • The 4×200 meter relay team of Cody Canaday, Tim Weimer, Will Seiter, and Devon Strange finished first with a time of 1:38.49
  • The 4×400 meter relay team of Cody Canaday, Mohammed Bayyari, Devon Strange, and Grant Mahoney finished third with a time of 3:39.51
  • The 4×800 meter relay team of Mark Chaplin, Kevin Lackey, Dylan Valdez, and Aaron Orth finished fifth with a time of 9:00.74
  • Matt Mayer finished fifth in the high jump with a height of 5-04.00
  • Will Seiter finished first in the pole vault with a height of 11-00.00
  • Tim Weimer finished third in the long jump with a distance of 17-10.00
  • Andrew Hyden finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 36-05.00

The Camels’ track teams compete next at the Ryle Relays on Thursday, April 18 at Ryle High School.
