Coaches Corner: 2012 Girls Soccer Preview

Posted On: August 13, 2012 Posted By: Stuart Chowning

The 2012-2013 Girls Soccer season kicks off 8/13/2012 at Conner.

These Lady Camels are a team to keep an eye on this season.  Dave Morris, Head Coach, says, “We have the deepest team ever at Campbell County with an infusion of young, talented players that add to already strong junior and senior classes. We have been moved to a new district and region and expect to compete for the championship in both.”

Coach Morris knows what he is talking about.  He has coached soccer for 20 years, with 9 of those at the high school level.  This is his 6th season coaching at CCHS.  He is joined on the sidelines by Assistant Coaches Samantha Corman and Simon Sapsford.  They work collectively with Kevin Erskine, JV Coach, and Brian Dreyer, Freshman Coach.

Our 3 teams (varsity, JV, and freshmen) practice at the same time, but separately with their coaches.  Each session focuses primarily on an individual soccer technique or a certain team tactic building from the fundamentals up thru the application of the skill in a match condition.

Coach Morris described his coaching style as, “I have a positive reinforcement coaching style.  I believe that this style gets the best long term results out of an athlete.”  And, you can’t argue with the results.  Over the past 5 seasons, the team has won or tied over 70% of their games which has led to a team made up of champions.  They expect to win each time they play, no matter who their competition is.

As you can see this team is Camel Proud!
