Tonight’s game was a back and forth struggle as the Camels and Conner would trade the lead numerous times.
The rain fell heavily as the game started, but for the camels it didn’t seem to slow them down. They got on the scoreboard for the first time early in the 1st quarter as #34 Brandon Morris took a #15 Avery Wood hand off 45 yards for a touchdown. The extra point would be missed giving the camels a 6-0 lead.
That would be all the scoring in the first half.
Conner got their first points late in the 3rd quarter after quarterback Drew Barker connected for a 30 yard touchdown pass. A successful extra point would give Conner their first lead 7-6.
They would hold that lead until the middle of the fourth quarter. Avery Wood would connect with #5 Nate Hess on a 3rd down play deep in camel territory for an 80 yard touchdown pass. They would come up short on the 2 point conversion, but reclaiming the lead 12-7.
But that would leave Conner with just enough time to drive the field to take back the lead on a short Drew Barker touchdown pass with 38 seconds left. After a failed 2 point conversion Conner would lead 13-12.
That one point lead would be all Conner needed as the Camels could only get to midfield before the clock would run out.
The camels next game is at home in two weeks as they welcome the Simon Kenton Pioneers to Alexandria.
