Starting quarterback Avery Wood had a great game tonight.

The camels started the season tonight with a packed house. Fans piled in early filling the stands to capacity, and after a slow start they were given a dominating performance by the camels.

After a few missed opportunities in the opening quarter, the camels shook of the early season rust and got into a rhythm. Brandon Morris got into the endzone on a 3 yard run up the middle. The second touchdown of the quarter would happen in a similar fashion as Alex Howard ran the ball up the middle deep in Newport territory. That would send the teams into halftime with the camels up 13-0.

The only score in the 3d quarter from either team would come from Alex Howard who had a 2 yard run up the middle.

The camels would get on the board one more time late in the 4th quarter when Eli Mathews had a 60 yard TD run.

The defense had a great game giving up no points. Newport’s loan touchdown would come on an interception with under two minutes in the game. The notable stat on defense tonight was Senior defensive back David Gaskins grabbing two interceptions.

Next week the camels travel to Fort Thomas to take on Highlands. We will see you there.
