The Camels came into Bob Miller stadium ready to build on wins versus Milford and NCC.  Tonight, however, they ran into a Cooper team with plans to remain undefeated.

Cooper took an early 6-0 lead on a 46 yard TD pass with 5:02 remaining in the 1st quarter.  The Camels received the kickoff, but gave up an interception on the CCHS 46 yard line.  Cooper took advantage of the turnover adding to their lead with a 33 yard TD pass and successful 2 point conversion.  Cooper led 14-0 with 3:23 left in the 1st.

Later, in the 2nd quarter, Cooper was up 20-0.  Campbell County then scored on a short TD run by Tyler Durham with 2:11 remaining in the half.  The Camels defense held giving the offense the ball back before halftime.  Grant Mahoney kicked a booming 41 yard field goal cutting Cooper’s lead to 20-10 as the half expired.

Halftime was extended by over an hour due to lightening.  Camel faithfuls, fans, and parents were hoping the team could build on their late 1st half momentum.

Cooper received the kickoff and scored a TD with 11:19 in the 3rd stretching their lead to 27-10.  The Camels continued to show fight answering with a 5 yard TD run by Tyler Durham.  Cooper was ahead 27-16 with 6:43 left in the 3rd.

Campbell County’s defense produced a solid stop and the Camel’s offense took over going into the 4th.  A late quarter drive gave the remaining fans reason to be excited.  Unfortunately, the drive stalled and the scored went final at 27-16.

The Camels (2-2) next game will be Homecoming on 9/14 @ home versus Conner.
