Track Regional Champs

“Congrats to the Boys and Girls Track Teams who BOTH WON the Regional Championships today. You know, the thing we work all year long for. For the Girls, it’s back to back Regional wins with a fresh new team. We lost a lot of great runners to the High School this year and the team was skeptical when I told them at the start of the season that we were going to win again, but we did just that. For the boys, it is their first Region Championship since I’ve been coaching (7 years). What it takes for both teams to put everything together at the same time to both win is tremendous.

School Records broken today go to Hope Hounshell who jumped 15 feet in Long Jump. Austin Hammack who ran a 12.24 in the 100m dash to break a long standing School Record. The Girls 4×100 of Tia Mounts, Paige Wespesser, Sanchia Abdul-Rahim, and Hope Hounshell who ran a 55.47 to beat the School Record of last years team which was phenomenal and ran a 55.48. The 4×800 of Nick Cartwright, Cooper Ackerson, Jordan Hartig, and Noah Slone broke the last years School Record team by a whoping 10 seconds and their own PR by nearly 20 seconds. And, the 4×200 of Porter Hedenberg, Evan Barnes, Josh Pond, and Austin Hammack broke the School Record, which stood for a very long time.

Individual Region Champions go to Cooper Ackerson in High Jump; the 4×200 Boys of Porter Hedenberg, Evan Barnes, Josh Pond, and Austin Hammack; the 4×100 Girls of Tia Mounts, Paige Wespesser, Sanchia Abdul-Rahim, and Hope Hounshell; Hope Hounshell in Long Jump; the 4×400 Girls of Hannah Schreiber, Jenna Gies, Grace Moloney, and Tia Mounts; and Laney Weinberg in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Laney Weinberg also walked away with the Top Overall Female Point Scorer Award.

Congrats to all!”
