All CCHS/CCMS Student Athletes who plan to tryout for 2026 Lady Camels Fastpitch Softball Team:
We hope all of you are doing well…softball season is only a few months away.
Opening Day is March 17th.
IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY PLAYING A WINTER SPORT, SUCH AS BASKETBALL, IGNORE THE REST OF THIS EMAIL (OTHER THAN CHECKING OUT THE SEASON SCHEDULE).
HAVE A G-R-E-A-T WINTER!
WE WILL SEE YOU AFTER YOUR SEASON HAS ENDED.
Back to business…
I am enclosing a copy of our varsity and JV schedule for the 2026 season. These games have been in place since the end of August, and while there could be 1-2 additions, deletions, or tweaks, most likely, this is the final schedule. If you go on to the KHSAA website, all of these games will not appear because there is a new way of entering information this year. Every school is responsible for entering ONLY THEIR OWN HOME GAMES. What that means is that if a school has not entered their home games and one of those is versus the Lady Camels, that game will NOT appear on KHSAA yet (until they enter all of their home games).
Please note that JV games are always subject to change based on the fact that sometimes schools end up not having enough players to field a team.
So what can you do now to give yourself the best chance to make the team and help win a championship?
Your number one priority is to get stronger.
Your winter strength and conditioning program will begin on Monday, December 1st, and continue on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-3:45 up until Christmas Break. Then, after we return to school from the break, the workout days will switch to Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:00.
ALL WORKOUTS WILL BE HELD IN THE HIGH SCHOOL WEIGHTROOM AND WILL BE RUN BY LUCAS SPRINGER, CAMPBELL COUNTY’S STRENGTH AND FITNESS COACH. WE ARE EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE HIM! HE WILL TAILOR ALL WORKOUTS SPECIFICALLY TO SOFTBALL… YOUR GOAL SHOULD BE TO ATTEND AS MANY SESSIONS AS POSSIBLE. WE CAN’T REQUIRE YOU TO ATTEND, BUT IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.
WITH SO MANY SENIORS – WE NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP DURING THESE SESSIONS.
Your second goal should be to work on perfecting your swing and — if you are a pitcher — fine-tuning your pitching form/motion. If you are taking lessons, keep taking them! As far as your swing is concerned, use a mirror, invest in a batting tee, and dedicate yourself to finding your perfect swing.
