Campbell County Championships Recap

Camels are supposed to be able to withstand heat…in yesterday’s scenario we struggled a bit with this adaptation.  It was hot, there is no doubt about that.  Times were a bit slower than they have been.  In this race, points are scored with boys and girls combined. Our top 5 places combined led to a 3rd place finish.

In the Lady Camels race, Allie Franzen clinched the 3rd place spot, with Beam Kumkerd running another impressive race and finishing 4th.  Kylie Little placed  9th, collecting her first CC Champs t-shirt. Devan Carrigan ran a strong race, just missing an award by placing 12th, and our 5th girl this week was Savannah Krift in 13th with Emma Hogle close behind in 18th. This put our 1-5 split at 2:53 which is a little slower than we have been accustomed to.  We had some strong performances, but experienced a gap in our times that left us vulnerable in a small race.

In the Boys race, Jordan Hartig led the Camels with a 6th place finish, while Anthony Ronnebaum scored his first Campbell Champs t-shirt by squeezing in at 10th place. From there, our Camels spread out a little thin.  David Howard was the Camels Three- spot this week with 18th place, followed by Adam Ruschman in 21st. Trenen Lowther found his 5K legs and pounded in a great finish at 25th, giving us a 1-5 split of 2:44.  Josh Yang also had a strong race with 27th place , and Ethan Schwalbach wrapped up the top 7 scorers in 30th place.  Like the girls, we had some strong performances, but fell short of a few of our team goals.
