Boys Soccer Travels to Ryle

Last night the JV and Varsity Boys Soccer teams traveled to Ryle for two matches.  The weather has been amazing for a while now and last night was no different.  It was a great night for some soccer.

The JV Camels started off the night with a hard fought 1-0 victory.  Adam Clark scored an early goal for the Camels, with an assist from Morgan Drake, and the Camels held strong for the remainder of the game.  This has been a fantastic season so far for the JV Camels, as they have only tallied one loss so far.  The boys are off until Friday when they compete in the JV Regional Tournament at Town & Country.  Good Luck JV Camels.

The Varsity team played second last night, after a celebration of Ryle’s senior players.  The boys warmed up well and were ready for the game.  Ryle has one of the largest fields that any of the boys will play on in their high school career, so it was expected that this game would be a battle of possession.  The Camels seemed to take to this type of game and were able to possess the ball well throughout the game.  All levels of the team had good possession, from the defense through the midfield and up to the forwards.  Ryle struck first on a ball played into the box which bounced around a bit.  Our boys did their best to defend the cross, but a Ryle player was able to punch it home.  After this, the game was wide open for a while.  The Varsity Camels held their own though, and Colton Gearhart was able to score the equalizer late in the second half off of an assist from Michael Dumaine.  With a chance in the final seconds on a break-away, Oliver Rice was not able to find a goal to secure the victory for the Camels.  It was a great run and through ball, but the goal was not there.  All of the boys played extremely hard last night and a 1-1 draw is a good result on a big field against a good Ryle team.  Senior night is this Thursday at 7:00 against Grant County.
