JV wins against Cooper, Freshman and Varsity take a loss

Overall, it was not a very good night at Cooper for the Camels Boys Soccer teams.  The Freshman team lost a tough game 1-0 and the Varsity team lost 4-2.  The JV team brought home a victory though, with a final score of 2-0.

The Freshman game was hot and humid again, and filled with scoring opportunities.  The Freshman Camels were able to put the ball in the net twice, but both were called back.  There were several other chances throughout the game that just wouldn’t go for the boys and Cooper but the lone goal of the game in for the win.  With a few days of practice before their next game, the Freshman boys will be looking to come out strong during the Brossart Tournament this weekend at Pendrey Park.

The JV team continued their strong early season with a 2-0 win.  The boys continued to play together and fight hard, even with Cooper pushing back throughout the game.  Goals were scored by Griffin Thomas and Colton Schneider, with an assist by Adam Clark.  The JV boys play again on Tuesday against Dixie.  Keep it up.

The varsity game started off similarly to the last few that the Camels played.  The boys were not able to match Cooper’s intensity from the beginning and they scored 4 goals in the first half.  As has also been the case this season, the boys started the second half with a fire under them and pressured Cooper throughout.  Michael Dumaine and Rob Augspurger netted goals in the second half and Ian Specht had an assist.  The Varsity boys play Covington Catholic at home on Thursday, and this will definitely be a test.  We will see if the intensity is there when the whistle blows on Thursday.
