Camels Drop Rebels

Posted On: February 17, 2016 Posted By: Gary Lemons

After splitting a pair of games last week, a 66-63 loss to Pendleton County and a 69-53 victory over Cooper, the Camels started the final week of the regular season with a 66-42 romp over visiting Boone County.  The Camels put 4 players in double figures and used a balanced attack led by Trent McGovney’s 15 points.

The Camels were hot from behind the arc early starting the game with 4 straight three pointers.  Garren Bertsch hit 3 treys in the opening period while McGovney and Cole Hegyi each added one of their own.  The Camels led 16-15 after one period.

The Camels doubled their point production in the 2nd period while holding the Rebels to only 5 points extending their lead to 32-20 at the half.  Another 5 point quarter by the Rebels allowed the Camels to further extend the lead to 46-25 after the 3rd quarter.  During the period, Matt Wilson became one of the top 25 rebounders all time in the state of Kentucky with 1149 career rebounds.

The fourth quarter was much of the same resulting in a 66-42 Camel victory.  Trent McGovney led the Camels with 15 points while Garren Bertsch added 13.  Cole Hegyi scored 12 and Matt Wilson added 11 in the win. Tanner Clos also chipped in 9.

The Camels play their final regular season home game this Friday night hosting the Ryle Raiders on Senior Night. Come out to support our four seniors Matt Wilson, Trent McGovney, Cam Lemons, and Gideon Measner in their final home game.
