The Camels Boys JV team knocked off the Dixie Heights Colonels this past Friday night in their home opener 45-38. The Camels raced out to an early advantage and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the first half taking a 21-13 lead into the locker room. However, midway through the 3rd period, Dixie came alive with several 3 point baskets cutting into the Camel lead. After several empty trips by the Camels, the lead was trimmed to a single point at 31-30 heading into the 4th quarter. The Camels and Colonels battled throughout the last stanza trading baskets as the Camels held a 37-36 lead with 2:57 to play. The Camels came up with several defensive stops, and with time winding down, the Colonels were forced to foul. The Camels hit free throws down the stretch to seal the 45-38 victory. The Camels outscored Dixie 14-8 in the last period.

The Camels were led in scoring by Gideon “Money” Measner with 13 points. Cameron Lemons and Garren Bertsch added 9 points each for the JV Camels who are 1-0. The JV will take on Holy Cross this Wednesday night. Remember to bring a new unwrapped toy to the game for FREE admission and to support the CCMS/CCHS Boys Basketball Toy Drive.
