The Journey Begins ….

Posted On: November 19, 2014 Posted By: Gary Lemons

The Campbell County Boys basketball team began its quest to repeat as 10th Region champions and earn their 2nd consecutive trip to the “Sweet Sixteen” last Tuesday night with the annual “Camel Madness” showcase. The night included introductions of the Freshman, JV, and Varsity players, a dunk contest and intra-squad scrimmage.

The Camels finished a stellar 2013-2014 campaign with a 21-9 record and their first trip to the KY Sweet Sixteen since 2001. With 4 returning starters, a solid bench, and a talented JV squad which only suffered 4 losses last year, expectations are high for the upcoming season.  All-star guard Corey Holbrook, Luke Franzen, and Garrett Geiman were lost to graduation, but Deondre Jackson, Matt Wilson, Trent McGovney, and Blake Losey return to lead the Camels.  Seniors Jake Franzen, Craig Neltner, and Jordan Day will all play key roles in the Camels success this season.

Head coach Aric Russell will be at the helm as the Camels kick off the regular season December 5th against Dixie in the home opener.  Come out and support the Camels as they tip off the new season with high expectations and their sights set on Rupp Arena.

Let the journey begin ……..
