Campbell County and Bourbon County exchanged the lead four times on Tuesday, but Campbell County ended up on top with a 6-5 win in seven innings.
The Camels finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. The Camels went up for good on a two-run single by Cooper Gray off Vanhoose, scoring Joe Eblin and Carson Plessinger.
Gray boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace Campbell County Camels Varsity.
Colton Hartig got the win for Campbell County Camels Varsity. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered six hits. This followed his no-hitter last Wednesday versus Holmes.
T. Greenlee was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Bourbon County jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Whestine homered, bringing home Walters after a single by Walters got things started.
Bourbon County tied the game in the fifth on a two-run single by Faris that scored Walters and Flynn.
One run in the top of the seventh helped Bourbon County close its deficit to 6-5. An error fueled Bourbon County’s comeback. Bourbon County’s Stacy struck out to end the ballgame.
