Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Kevin Skinner could carry Campbell County Camels past Dixie Heights on Wednesday as Campbell County suffered the 7-4 defeat
Kevin Skinner paced Campbell County at the plate and on the mound. Skinner went 1-3 and drove in one. He singled in the fifth inning. Skinner held Dixie Heights hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none.
Conradi recorded the win for Dixie Heights. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Alex Franzen was charged with the loss. He lasted four innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
In the bottom of the third, Campbell County Camels grabbed the early lead, 1-0.
Dixie Heights grabbed the lead after the fourth inning, scoring five runs on two doubles.
Dixie Heights matched its one-run fifth inning with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, Dixie Heights scored on a sacrifice fly by Barmore, plating Kerns.
One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Campbell County Camels close its deficit to 6-2. An RBI single by Willy Cox gave the Camels life. The Camels threat came to an end when Conradi finally got Blake Losey to ground out.
Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Campbell County Camels close its deficit to 7-4. A fielder’s choice and a fielder’s choice triggered Campbell County’s comeback. Conradi ended the inning by getting Dawson Hogan to strike out.
