Campbell County Camels Varsity lost 12-7 in seven innings at Simon Kenton on Saturday, despite outhitting Conner 10 to seven.
Joe Kremer was hot from the plate for Campbell County Camels Varsity. Joe went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the third and sixth innings.
Ward recorded the win for Conner. He allowed one run over two innings. Ward struck out three, walked three and gave up one hit.
Ostertag, Harshbarger and Schneider helped lead Conner. They combined for five hits and three RBIs.
Brady Sansom ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 11 runs in four innings, walked five and struck out two.
The game’s last lead went to Conner thanks to a first inning rally that saw four runs cross the plate on a two-run single by Harshbarger.
After pushing across one run in the top of the second, Campbell County Camels Varsity faced just a 4-1 deficit. A fielder’s choice gave Campbell County Camels Varsity life. Ward ended the inning by getting Blake Losey to fly out.
Conner scored one run of its own in the second. Conner scored on an error.
Conner tacked on another five runs in the third. A clutch error scored Borman to open the scoring in the frame.
Campbell County Camels Varsity scored five runs in the top of the fourth to cut its deficit to four. A two-run single by Dawson Hogan, a two-run single by Robert Metz, and an RBI double by Joe sparked Campbell County Camels Varsity’s rally. But, Borman got Erik “Willy” Cox to to end the inning.
