Pitchers had a tough day during the game between Campbell County Camels Varsity and Rowan County, as the two teams put up 27 runs combined in a 15-12 Campbell County Camels Varsity win.
Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 22 hits, including four extra base hits.
Brady Sansom led Campbell County Camels Varsity’s offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored three runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and third innings.
Josh Reynolds got the win for Campbell County Camels Varsity. He allowed four runs over three innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered three hits.
Campbell County Camels Varsity pounded Rowan County pitching, as six hitters combined for 10 hits, eight RBIs and 12 runs scored.
Curry was the game’s losing pitcher. He allowed seven runs in three innings, walked two and struck out four.
Rowan County jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. A solo blast by Graham started the inning off.
The lead stayed with Campbell County Camels Varsity after the first, when it scored three runs on a groundout by Joe Kremer and an RBI single by Brady.
Campbell County Camels Varsity pushed across two runs in both the second inning and the third. In the second, Campbell County Camels Varsity scored on an RBI single by Dawson Hogan, bringing home Kevin Skinner.
After pushing across three runs in the top of the third, Rowan County faced just a 5-4 deficit. An RBI single by Graham, an error, and an RBI single by Thacker triggered Rowan County’s comeback. Planck to end the Rowan County threat.
Campbell County piled on two more runs in the bottom of the third. A error scored Brady to get Campbell County on the board in the inning.
Campbell County built upon its lead with six runs in the fourth. A error scored Dawson for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Erik “Willy” Cox‘s single, scoring Joe.
After pushing across two runs in the top of the fifth, Rowan County faced just a 12-6 deficit. An RBI single by Planck and a bases loaded walk by Cameron Edwards sparked Rowan County’s rally. Finally, Cameron induced an inning-ending ground out from Helvey.
Campbell County Camels Varsity got one-run rallies in the fifth inning and the sixth. In the fifth, Campbell County scored on an RBI single byNick Sheanshang, bringing home Erik “Willy”.
Six runs in the top of the seventh helped Rowan County close its deficit to 14-11. An RBI double by Hopson, an RBI single by Barhorst, an RBI single by Graham, and a fielder’s choice gave Rowan County life. Kevin got the last out, as Rowan County’s Planck flew out.
