Campbell County Camels Varsity fell 9-8 to Anderson High School, OH in seven innings on Tuesday at NKU despite racking up 10 hits and eight runs.
Nick Sheanshang racked up two RBIs on three hits for Campbell County Camels Varsity. He singled in the first, third, and fifth innings.
Strange got the win for Anderson. He pitched two shutout innings. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered no hits.
Johnny Eblin was charged with the loss. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked four and struck out three.
The top of the first saw Anderson take an early lead, 4-0. Anderson’s rally started when Peterson doubled. A groundout by Hopkins then moved Peterson from second to third. Anderson pushed more runs across when McLelland and Wheeldon scored on a two-run double by Peyton and Peyton scored.
It didn’t take long for Campbell County to answer as it scored four runs of its own in the first. Campbell County scored on a two-run single by Nick, a groundout by Erik “Willy” Cox, and an RBI single by Dawson Hogan.
Anderson went up for good in the second, scoring one run on an RBI triple by Shannon.
One run in the bottom of the third helped the Camels close its deficit to 6-5. An RBI single by Josh Reynolds gave Campbell County life. Kevin Skinner to end the Camels threat.
Three Campbell Countyruns crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth, making the score 9-8. An RBI single by Dawson and an RBI single by Blake Losey set off Campbell County’s rally. Lynn ended the inning by getting Brady Sansom to ground out.
