Joe Kremer collected three hits, helping Camels to an 8-6 victory over Highlands on Saturday at Highland Park in the finale of two games Saturday of the Doc Morris tournament.
He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the first and seventh innings.
The Camels took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning before the wheels came off allowing Highlands to take over the game with a five run explosion. Highlands plated one more run in the sixth to take a commanding 6-2 lead into the seventh inning.
The seventh inning saw the Camels explode themselves offensively. Johnny Eblin started things off with a walk to give the Camels a leadoff baserunner. Joe Rawe followed with his first basehit of his varsity career. Blake Losey reached on an infield hit and the Camels had bases loaded with no outs.
Rob Franzen and Tyler Walsh both walked and the Camels found themselves down by only two runs. Mitch Kramer stepped to the plate and provide the heroics of this day by sending a tower shot to the Left Field wall for a bases clearing triple and the Camels took the lead for the second and final time of the game. Avery Wood’s single plated Kramer for the sixth and final run of the inning.
Rob Franzen came into the seventh and final inning looking for the save. After allowing the first two hitters to reach base, it looked as if the Camels heroics of the top of the seventh may have been for naught. No worries, Franzen mowed through the next three hitters, striking out all in his next eleven pitches and securing the save and victory for the Camels.
Joe Rawe got the win in relief for Camels. Rawe pitched one inning and allowed one run.
