Camels held tough until late against Boyle County on Saturday, but Boyle County scored five runs late for a 10-3 victory at Highland Park during the first of two games this day of the Doc Morris tournament.
Miniard recorded the win for Boyle County. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered three hits.
Camels answered Boyle County’s top inning with one run of its own in the third. Camels scored on a sacrifice fly by Avery Wood.
Boyle County brought home two runs in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, Boyle County scored on an RBI single by Jones, scoring Conyers.
Boyle County stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the sixth, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Ward.
Boyle County increased its lead with five runs in the seventh. A clutch error scored Whittle and Miniard to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Jones’ double, plating Chambers and Petitt.
