Both the boys and girls track teams competed in the 19th Annual Donnie Carnes Memorial Meet at the new Campbell County High School Stadium on Saturday. Before the start of the meet, the seniors on both the boys and girls teams were recognized for their hard work, leadership, and contributions to the team.  The seniors on the girls’ side were Meredith Donoghue, Taylor Schuchter, and Becca Fultz. On the boys’ side, the seniors that were recognized were Doug Carson, Ian Franzen, James Gies, Kevin Lackey, Ben See and Devon Strange.  On Senior Day, in addition to the nice weather , there were some nice performances from both teams with the Lady Camels taking home a fourth place finish in the fifteen team field , while the Camels took home a seventh place finish in a fourteen team field.  The top performances on the girls’ side were:

  • Kelsey Riley placed 8th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:09.34
  • Jennah Flairty won the 3200 Meter Run with a time of 12:31.11 and also finished second in the 1600 Meter Run crossing the finish line in 5:25.08
  • Becca Cline won the 300 Meter Hurdles by finishing in 49.16 and then took home a second place finish in the 100 Meter Hurdles by finishing in 16.96
  • The 4×100 Meter Relay consisting of Emily Orth, Courtney Hammock, Kaitlyn Donoghue, and Meredith Donoghue finished in 6th place with a time of 57.74
  • The 4×200 Meter Relay of Emily Orth, Kaitlyn Donoghue, Emily Steele, and Becca Cline placed 4th by finishing in a time of 1:58.25
  • The 4×400 Meter Relay of Jennah Flairty, Emily Steele, Becca Cline, and Kelsey Riley crossed the finish line in 4:39.65 which was good for 4th place
  • In the high jump, Emily Steele jumped to a 6th place finish with a height of 4-04.00
  • Meredith Donoghue leapt to a 3rd place finish in the Long Jump with a distance of 14-10.25 and Kaitlyn Donoghue came in 6th with a distance of 13-01.50
  • In the Triple Jump, Meredith Donoghue placed 7th with a jump of 27-10.00
  • Kaylee Johnson set a new PR and placed sixth with a throw of 28-00.00 in the shot put
  • In the discus, Taylor Schuchter and Olivia Cassinelli placed 7th and 8th with throws of 77-11 and 74-11

The top performances on the boys’ side were:

  • Devon Strange and Dustin Turner ran to 3rd and 7th place finishes in the 100 Meter Dash with final times of 12.02 and 12.17
  • Dylan Rich raced to a 7th place finish in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 24.78
  • In the 400 Meter Dash, Devon Strange earned a 4th place finish by crossing the finish line in 55.28
  • Mark Chaplin took home a 3rd place finish in the 3200 Meter Run by finishing in 10:26.27
  • Andrew Hyden ran and jumped the 300 Hurdles  in a time of 43.46, a season’s best, which was good for a 5th place finish
  • The 4×100 Meter Relay of Gunnar Froelicher, Dustin Turner, Dylan Rich, and Devon Strange finished 2nd with a time of 46.53
  • The 4×200 Meter Relay of Dylan Rich, Kyle Edgley, Gunnar Froelicher, and Dustin Turner ran their season’s best and earned an 8th place finish with a time of 1:39.87
  • In the 4×400 Meter Relay, Andrew Hyden, Kyle Edgley, Dylan Rich, and Devon Strange took home a 6th place finish by crossing the line in 3:45.06
  • In the Pole Vault, John Leopold vaulted himself to an 8th place finish with a height of 9-00.00
  • Andrew Hyden leapt to a 5th place finish in the Triple Jump with a distance of 38-00.00
  • Doug Carson threw 41-10.50 in the Shot Put which earned him a 5th place finish

The Camels’ track teams compete next at the Ryle Relays on Thursday, April 17 at Ryle High School.
