Varsity wins opening game

Varsity football started the season off with a big victory tonight over the East Central Trojans from Indiana.

Both teams would start the game off slow as neither team scored in the first quarter. But things changed at the beginning of the second quarter as East Central would score a touchdown in the opening minute on a 17 yard touchdown pass. Less than two minutes later the camels would get a touchdown of their own after Carson Plessinger would connect with Matt Mayer for a 44 yard touchdown pass, the extra point was no good. Both teams would get another touchdown, sending them to halftime with the camels down 13-14.

The camels received the ball to start the second half and put together a long touchdown drive. Josh Carroll would score the touchdown, and Plessinger would covert the two point conversion. That would put the camels up by 7, and eat up almost half of the third quarter.

They would only add to their lead in the fourth quarter after connecting on a 20 yard field goal and punching in another touchdown. Although they didn’t need to add anymore points after the defense kept the Trojans out of the end zone the entire second half.

Next week they play their home opening against Highlands.

Special thanks to Kip Mason and Mareka Miller for the updates a pictures.
